With less than a month until the release of their fourth studio album, Surrender, RÜFÜS DU SOL unleashed the set's new single, "On My Knees," on stage at Governors Ball 2021.

On Friday (September 24), the electronic trio performed the just-released cut as part of their evening set outside Citi Field in Queens, New York. Atop elevated platforms, Tyrone Lindqvist, Jon George and James Hunt stood tall above the crowd on the Honda stage to perform the brooding track during the hour-long set. With a hypnotic light system to pair, the four-minute performance heard them dive into a darker soundscape than their usual territory, a moment that the band visualized while making the song. "It's definitely one of the most banging tracks on the record. We referenced some of our favorite club music for the drum programming and had fun envisioning the time when we could finally play this live," Hunt previously explained in a statement for the track's release.

During the performance, the Australian band briefly spoke about the accompanying LP, which seemed to have been birthed at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. "We just announced today a brand-new record that’s coming out. It’s called Surrender and we’ve been working on it for a year and a half, and we’re pretty excited to share it with you guys," Lindqvist said in the middle of the set, which also included usual suspects like "No Place," "You Were Right," "Eyes."

"On My Knees" follows the previously released, "Alive" and "Next To Me." The upcoming 11-track set, which will serve as the follow-up to 2018's Solace, will drop on October 22.
