Dave Grohl To Join Exclusive Club Of Multi-Time Rock Hall Inductees

Dave Grohl will make history in a few months, becoming just the tenth musician ever to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of two groups (excluding solo work).

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame announced Wednesday morning that Foo Fighters — the hit-making hard rock band Grohl founded in 1994 — has secured enshrinement in its first year of eligibility.

This year's induction ceremony is scheduled for October 30. Foo Fighters will be honored along with The Go-Go's, Jay-Z, Todd Rundgren, Tina Turner and Carole King.

Grohl was inducted to the Rock Hall for the first time in 2014 as the drummer for Nirvana.

Eric Clapton was the first musicians to be inducted as part of two collectives. He was inducted as a member of The Yardbirds in 1992 and as a member of Cream in 1993. He was also inducted a third time, as a solo artist, in 2000, making him the Rock Hall's only three-time inductee.

In total, there are sixteen other multi-time inductees — a list that as of October 30 will also include Turner, who was previously inducted in 1991 for her career with Ike & Tina Turner, and King who was previously inducted in 1990 as part of the Goffin/King songwriting team.

In addition to Clapton and now Grohl, the list of musicians to be inducted with multiple groups also includes Jimmy Page, David Crosby, Stephen Stills, Johnny Carter, Sammy Strain, Graham Nash, Ronnie Wood, and Gregg Rolie.
