The guys of Bastille recently sat down with EE, a UK mobile network, to discuss some of their favorite things like albums, songs, and ways to travel.
At the end of the video, the band is asked, “technology you couldn't live without?” and the whole band unanimously agree that they couldn't live without their phones. Same, guys, same.
While some artists may point fingers at society for having a phone addiction, singer Dan Smith had a confession to make: “I'm surgically attached to [my phone],” he stated in the video. “We reference phone addiction in one of our songs. That's how obsessed we are.”
The song he's referring to is the band's title track off its newest album, Doom Days. “We wanted [the song] to be really direct and talk about trying to find escapism from our modern anxieties – phone addiction, porn addiction, fake news addiction, climate change denial,” Smith said at the time of the song's arrival.
Being a band, the guys were also asked their favorite albums — 2001 by Dr. Dre, The Score by the Fugees, and Nostalgia Ultra by Frank Ocean (bassist Will Farquarson went the self-promo route and stated his own band's album). They also thought hard about gigs they wish they could have been present for and named some iconic shows like Queen at Live Aid concert and The Beatles playing on the roof of Abbey Road.
