The Cranberries Drop New Song From Final Album With Dolores O'Riordan

On the one-year anniversary of Dolores O'Riordan's passing, The Cranberries have released a new song called "All Over Now" and announced the track's accompanying album, In the End, which is set to drop April 26.

On the new cut, which was demoed before the singer's death, the late O'Riordan alongside her bandmates Fergal Lawler, Noel, and Mike Hogan bring forth the energy of a quintessential Cranberries track, merging rock flare and a catchy pop melody. "It's all over now/ It's all over now/ It's all over now/ It's all over now," the late singer croons on the hook, adding some somberness to the reality of the group's departure. "All Over Now" is the lead single to the band's upcoming 11-track set.

O'Riordan and [Noel] Hogan started working on the songs for the forthcoming LP while touring in May 2017, with the pair writing and demoing the collection later that winter. Unfortunately, the singer passed away in a London hotel room following a "tragic accident," before the group could play the material for their label, BMG. After mourning her death, the bandmates received blessing from her family, recruited producer Stephen Street and finished the project. "We knew this had to be one of the, if not the, best Cranberries album that we could possibly do," Hogan said. "The worry was that we would destroy the legacy of the band by making an album that wasn't up to standard. Once we had gone through all the demos that Dolores and I had worked on and decided that we had such a strong album we knew it would be the right thing and the best way that we could honor Dolores."

In a press release for the announcement, O'Riordan’s mother detailed how the track's release commemorates her late daughter in the most fitting way possible. "I miss her awfully, specially today, as does the entire family," she said. "That said I can't think of a more fitting way to commemorate the first anniversary of her passing and to celebrate her life than to announce to the world the release of her final album with the band. She was very excited about this new album and was really looking forward to its release. I have no doubt that she is happy now and would be delighted with today's announcement."
