Is Brendon Urie Starting a Metal Project?

If Brendon Urie has it his way, we might be getting a Panic! At The Disco album that incorporates a plethora of genres, including metal.

During a recent interview with Rock Sound, the frontman revealed his harder side by confessing that he's been thinking about dabbling in metal.

“I want to do a metal project in particular,” Urie said in the interview. “I actually just played something for my bandmates recently — We have an old song called ‘The Calendar’ and I made a metal version of it from years back. It’s like 90 seconds long and is really fun. Who knows, I might even put that out on SoundCloud on a whim sometime soon!”

In the same interview, the 31-year-old goes into detail about generally pushing the envelope with P!ATD.

“I always feel as though I need to be more diverse,” he admitted. “Yes, all of the Panic! albums do sound different and have their own vibe, their own aesthetic and imagery, but I still feel like I can do more. Even from song to song within one album I feel like things could change even more drastically, and maybe that’ll happen as time goes on. I still have so many different things that I want to do, particularly in terms of genres."

Well, a metal project is definitely a great start. Will we see that headbanging version of "The Calendar" on Soundcloud soon? We hope so. In the meantime, listen to the original version of the song below.
